Smart Laser Training with Dynamic Shooting Analysis and Feedback

Dynamic Shooting Drills with MantisX

Mantis devices allow shooters to use technology to rapidly improve their skills through analytics and feedback, showing the behaviors and techniques of the shooter, not just the results.  Our flagship MantisX Shooting Performance System shows exactly why a shot missed and what changes can be made to correct it, but static, single target shooting is only one component of shooting.

Whether it be for competition, duty, or defense, dynamic shooting is a critical skill.  Learning to think, engage multiple targets, move and adapt under pressure can only be honed through practice, exposure, and understanding.  This is where Mantis sets the bar, our one of a kind smart laser training tools are the only systems that give in-depth dynamic shooting analysis.

The additional layer of data feedback gives not only shot timer data, but includes motion-based analysis on the efficiency of high-speed engagements.

Enhance Your Dry Fire Training

With TitanX and BlackbeardX new drills and analytics become available in the Mantis Pistol/Rifle app and dry fire becomes more akin to the on range experience.

TitanX is a laser pistol with a resetting trigger system that is optic ready, while BlackbeardX drops into your actual rifle allowing you to use your own setup safely as a laser rifle.  Your typical gear set up for holsters, slings, and optics will remain compatible.

BlackbeardX AR Drop-in Kit

Both systems are designed to allow shooters to train like they fight, helping to eliminate training scars and execute full courses of fire.  Instructors can introduce new shooters without the bang.  Shooters can perform dry runs through drills, stages, and qualifications.   Everyone gets access to granular data, insights, and digital visualization of their shooting to identify and correct technique deficiencies.

Being able to see exactly what occurs shot for shot increases understanding and promotes efficiency and shortens the path to proficiency.

Dynamic Shooting Enabled Systems

Mantis currently offers 3 variations of TitanX, each emulating the functional features of some of the most common semi-automatic pistols, the Glock 17, Glock 19, and Glock 45, with other popular variations coming soon.  Each TitanX replicates the same size, grip angle, and feature set shooters are used to for each make and model.

Regardless of the model of TitanX each has full functionality in the Mantis Pistol/Rifle app with access to Daily Challenges, Elite, Standard, and Dynamic drills, and Courses.  The TitanX is equipped with a red laser which can also be used with Laser Academy.

Installing the BlackbeardX BCG

Our BlackbeardX is currently compatible with 6 different rifle platforms, AR-15, AR-10, Sig MCX, FN SCAR Light, FN SCAR Heavy, Sig M7 (NGSW), with more coming soon.  Each of which are available with no laser, red laser, green laser, or infrared laser.  Each BlackbeardX comes with a drop-in bolt carrier group and a powerbank magazine, with an easy 20 second installation process.

All BlackbeardX units have expanded access in the Mantis Pistol/Rifle app just like the TitanX.  The red and green laser options are compatible with Laser Academy.

Dynamic Scoring and Drills

Each Dynamic shooting drill is evaluated for three factors which combine into the overall Efficiency Score on a scale of 0 to 100.  The Efficiency score is calculated by averaging the scores of the three scoring dimensions, Transition, Over Travel, and Delay.

The most efficient transition path is a straight line between the targets.  Deviating from this straight path decreases the Transition score.  This helps with smoothing out the transition and shortening not only the path the muzzle must travel but also the time on the clock.

The Over Travel score shows how much the muzzle moved past and through the intended target, meaning the shooter either misses or must correct and backtrack to the target.  The more over travel that occurs the lower the score will go.  This helps shooters understand the correct pace needed for an efficient transition and arrival at the new target.

Once the muzzle arrives on target the shot is ideally executed immediately, any extra time spent results in a lower Delay score since the shooter was on target but did not shoot.  This metric helps shooters understand how much time it takes to confirm their sight picture and can help to reduce the delay time while maintaining shot accuracy.  Shooting sooner, not faster, can then increase efficiency and decrease overall time.

Between TitanX and BlackbeardX there are 15+ Dynamic drills, including the open drill Dynamic Training where shooters can execute any course of fire.  Don’t forget though, each system is fully compatible with our Daily Challenges, 22+ Standard drills, and 14+ Courses.  TitanX also contains Elite drills for Holster Draw Analysis and Magazine Exchange Analysis (coming soon).

App Guided Feedback

MantisX Dynamic Drill Settings

Prior to starting any drill, a settings menu is available to configure the digital session to your intended practice session.  Customize the shot count, timing, and ready positions.

Each Dynamic drill has three feedback screens, Summary, Trace View, and Timer.  The Summary tab shows the scores and split time for each shot as well as a total efficiency and time.  Each scoring metric is color coordinated for ease of matching to the traces, visually breaking down each shot.

Heat Trace inside MantisX App

Trace View shows the path the muzzle took for each shot and shows the breakdown and score of each metric.  Each shot can be animated to see the path of the muzzle in real-time and can be switched to a Heat Trace view illustrating the changes in the transition velocity.

Completed sessions can also be compared to historical sessions.  Every dimension is comparatively scored, with overlaid visualizations to easier distill strengths/weaknesses and consistencies/inconsistencies.

Dynamics Timer in MantisX Explained

The last screen shows a color-coordinated Timer view to easily see how long you stayed on target post-shot, how much time was spent transitioning, and how much time you stayed on target pre-shot and if any delay occurs before the shot is taken.

Every session completed in the MantisX Pistol/Rifle app is logged to History and can be filtered, analyzed, and compared in the History tab making it easy to track progress over time.
