MantisX App Update - Several New Drills!

MantisX App Update with Mag Change Analysis

We've released a new update to the MantisX Pistol/Rifle app with new ways to sharpen your reloads, experiment freely and spend less time on your phone.

Here's what you'll find when you download the latest update.

Mag Change Analysis Drill (TitanX)

MantisX TitanX Mag Change Analysis drill trace view showing color-coded reload phases, gun movement path, empty mag well time, angular change and reload angle

Your reload is one of the easiest places to lose time, and one of the hardest to see on your own. The new Mag Change Analysis drill, available exclusively with TitanX, gives you the same kind of detailed feedback you get from Holster Draw Analysis. This time it's focused on how consistent your reload is.

You'll see:

  • Total reload time and exactly how long the mag well is empty
  • How the gun moves throughout the reload
  • A phase-by-phase breakdown showing where you're losing time
  • Time from on-target to the shot, plus trigger press score and laser feedback for each shot

The trace view shows the best path for your reload. It also shows how angle changes and gun cant make the difference between a clean mag insertion and a misaligned one. Play back the trace and watch the heat map to see exactly what happened.

Why It Matters

A fumbled reload costs you more than time. It pulls your focus off the target right when you need it most. Most shooters practice reloads by feel, so small inefficiencies like an angled mag, an extra hand movement or a slow return to target never get fixed. They just get repeated until they become habit. Mag Change Analysis takes the guesswork out by showing you exactly where the time goes, so every rep reinforces the right technique. Faster, cleaner reloads in dry fire carry over to live fire, where they show up on the clock in drills like the Crucible and Dot Torture.

Safe Space Drill

MantisX app Standard Drills list with the new Safe Space dry fire drill toggled on to refine technique without impacting scoring stats

Sometimes you need room to fail. The new Safe Space drill is a Standard Drill available on all X-enabled sensors. It gives you a place to experiment without hurting your shot score stats.

Your shots and sessions still count toward daily goals and training schedules, but your shot scores and problem metrics aren't affected. Set it up however you like, and you'll still get the same feedback and coaching as every other drill. Try a new technique, push your speed, or work on a new skill.

Why is this helpful?

Getting better means getting uncomfortable. Pushing your speed, changing your grip, or trying a new technique almost always means your scores dip before they climb. When every shot counts against your stats, it's tempting to stay in your comfort zone. Safe Space removes that pressure. This is the lab where things get figured out, where it's okay to be messy, and where lessons can be refined and proven before they're put to use. Once something is working, take it back to your regular drills and see the difference.

To turn it on, tap the pencil icon in the Drills header and toggle Safe Space to active. It stays in your drill list until you turn it off. Sessions still show up in your History tab and can be filtered. We recommend taking notes on each session so you can track what's working. The Score Floor setting is available too.

Repeat Pills on Dynamic Drills

MantisX Dynamic Drill Bill Drill results with repeat pills at the top showing score and time for each repeat, repeat 2 selected

When you set up repeats on Dynamic Drills, each repeat now shows as a pill at the top of your session. Tap a pill to see just that repeat, and every screen updates to match. Tap the selected red pill again to go back to the full session.

To set it up, tap the drill settings icon on the start screen and use the repeat slider, which goes from "No Limit" to 15. Less time scrolling on your phone means more time on reps. New to dynamic training? Check out Static vs Dynamic Dry Fire with MantisX.

Full Shot Detection Mode List on the Start Screen

With a MantisX sensor like the X10 Elite, the Shot Detection Mode button on the Start screen now opens the full list of modes from the Settings tab. It used to cycle through just the top options. Tap a mode to select it, or tap the settings icon to adjust that mode's Minimum Score Threshold and Shot Detection Delay.

Holster Draw Analysis shows only the modes that apply to it, and Recoilmeter is still live fire only. If you have a BlackbeardX or TitanX connected, the mode is selected automatically, so you won't see the button.
